The two main research thrusts of the center for Cyber Security and Digital Forensics [CSDF] are (i) Cyber Defense and digital forensics and (ii) Biometric-based IoT solutions. Through these thrusts, the CSDF center leads cyber security and data forensics research at VSU.

Research thrust I: Digital forensics
Lead: Dr. Micheal Reynolds
Focus: Utilizing digital forensics equipment to gain hands on experience in digital forensics for the development of more efficient techniques for detecting cyber crimes.

Research thrust II: Biometric-based IoT solution development
Lead: Dr. Joseph Shelton
Focus: Application of different classifiers on physiological and behavioral biometrics for improved classification of cyber threats.
